French Montana Raises $500,000 To Benefit Maternity Health Clinic In Uganda

French Montana shot the video for “Unforgettable” in Uganda, and ever since the rapper has been coming up with different charitable efforts to help his home continent of Africa. Recently, he announced the backing of Uganda’s Suubi Center, which helps mothers with maternity needs and children with medical assistance. Montana said that the proceeds of his recent “Famous” remix featuring Adam Levine will be donated to the center, and also revealed he’s raised $500,000 since the announcement. Montana said, “When I went to Uganda I felt obligated to [help]. I feel like every woman and child deserves the right healthcare. It shouldn’t be a privilege it should be a right.” To accompany his 2017 single “Unforgettable”, Montana enlisted the cameos of Uganda’s Triplets Ghetto Kids. The dancing ensemble had a huge impact on Montana, which inspired him to establish a healthcare platform with Global Citizen.

Wiz Khalifa’s Los Angeles Home Broken Into

Rapper Wiz Khalifa’s LA-area home was broken into during the early morning hours of Saturday.  The culprits were reportedly scared off by a houseguest before they could inflict too much damage on the residence.  According to police source, two men broke into the San Fernando Valley home around 4:45 a.m. However a member of Khalifa’s crew was present at the house at the time, and by the time they came down to check after hearing the noise, the perpetrators were gone. No property appears to be missing–the only damage is the broken glass when the culprits entered the home. Police are still investigating the incident.

SZA’s ‘Ctrl’ Passes Platinum Status By Having 2 Billion Streams

Back in June of 2017, SZA has released her platinum album Ctrl, and now the singer has found out that she has racked up 2.3 billion streams plus. She wrote on Instagram “I found out we 2.3 billion streams deep and a bunch a other cool stuff. I love my family . I love you all for pressing play at any time. Thank you for this journey. Thank you God for this existence. Amen.” SZA teased a deluxe edition of CTRL nearly a year a go and in March, she said that the deluxe version has “6 bonus tracks so far.”  However there is no word on any new material from SZA coming anytime soon.

Da Brat Files For Bankruptcy

Da Brat reportedly made $106,000 in 2017 and has already earned $75,000 this year, but rapper seems to be in debt and she’s now filing for bankruptcy. According to an Aug. 22 report, Da Brat claims to have assets totaling $108,700.65 but her liabilities come out to $7,782,249.57. The rapper is reported to owe $6.4 million to former cheerleader Shayla Stevens, as well as $1,255,128 to Sony Music and $12,000 to Ally Bank.  Since 2015, Da Brat has been working as a co-host on the Rickey Smiley morning radio show. Meanwhile, it’s been 15 years since Da Brat released her last album, Limelite, Luv & Niteclubz but she has stayed busy dropping new music. In 2016, Da Brat dropped the song “Alessandro Michele,” “F U Pay Me” and also teamed up with Jermaine Dupri for the song “Level Up.” The rapper is also featured on the So So Def 25 compilation project.

Apollo Brown & Joell Ortiz Announce “Mona Lisa” Album

Apollo Brown has announced a new album, Mona Lisa, with Joell Ortiz. Brown and Ortiz’s LP is scheduled to drop on October 26. The duo premiered the project’s first single, “Decisions,” via Billboard on Wednesday (August 22). “This album is art overdue,” Brown said in a press release. “In my ears, this is what the painting Mona Lisa sounds like. The music is straightforward.
