Big Sean and Metro Boomin are joining the artists releasing albums in December. Just a few days after announcing their Double Or Nothing album, the duo unveiled the cover art and a December 8 release date for the LP. They followed up with the 10-song tracklist, which features Travis Scott, 2 Chainz, Young Thug, 21 Savage, Swae Lee, and Kash Doll.
DJ Khaled, alongside Meghan Trainor, Diddy and Republic Records Group President Charlie Walk has joined the panel of judges for FOX’s new singing competition, “The Four: Battle for Stardom.” The first exclusive photo of all four judges for FOX’s new hit singing competition series was just released. The participants and winner of the series will have new music released via Republic Records through Universal Music Group, headed by Walk. The series will be hosted by music superstar Fergie.
JAY-Z and Jaz-O appear to have turned a corner on their long-standing beef. The two Brooklyn natives were photographed together backstage at JAY-Z’s 4:44 Tour stop in Chicago on Tuesday night, December 5th. The picture of the duo was uploaded to Instagram by Roc Nation’s Emory “Vegas” Jones, and features JAY-Z, Jaz-O and producer No I.D. The rift between JAY-Z and Jaz-O – who is often regarded as Jay’s mentor – is said to have started when Jaz refused to sign to Hov’s Roc-A-Fella Records imprint in the early 2000s.
On Wednesday, December 6, Lil Wayne took to Instagram to announce Dedication 6, with DJ Drama, will arrive on Christmas Day. He also shared the red, white and black cover art, which features a caricature of Wayne and delivers the same aesthetic as the previous five Dedication projects. The duo kicked off the series in 2005 with The Dedication, and it’s been four years since they released the last edition —Dedication 5 — in 2013. There’s still no official release date for Tha Carter V but Wayne claims he can “release it at will.”
Up and coming Bronx rapper Don Q was arrested last week on weed and gun charges. Police found the contraband after a routine traffic stop, and he’s already been released from jail. According to reports, Q was arrested last Thursday for felony possession of a .22 caliber Beretta and unlawful possession of a bag of weed. Law enforcement sources tell us cops found the pot in his underwear during a strip search. However his attorney, Stacey Richman, tells us there was no reason for the initial traffic stop, or for cops to search Q and his friends.
