A Guy in Spain Got Away With Skipping Work For Six Years

I don’t use the word “hero” lightly, but this guy qualifies.  No offense, Nelson Mandela.  69-year-old Joaquin Garcia works at a waste treatment plant in Spain.  And a little over six years ago, he became a supervisor.

But he quickly realized that his job didn’t really require him to do much of anything, so he stopped showing up.  Straight up just didn’t go to work, and kept getting PAID.  And he managed to get away with skipping work but still collecting a paycheck for SIX YEARS.

He was only caught when his 20th anniversary with the company came up and they wanted to celebrate.

He got a $30,000 fine, which was the equivalent of one year’s salary.  That seems like it was TOTALLY worthwhile.
