The animated adventure Toy Story 4 is the No. 1 movie in North America, earning $118 million at the box office this weekend. It’s the biggest opening weekend ever in the “Toy Story” franchise, and also the third biggest opening weekend domestically for a Pixar release.
A never-before-seen music video featuring Queen’s legendary frontman, Freddie Mercury, was released Thursday on YouTube and on Mercury’s website. It shows the singer-songwriter performing “Time Waits for No One” on the empty stage of London’s Dominion Theatre.
Actress Angelina Jolie is joining Time magazine as a contributing editor. The magazine’s editor in chief and CEO, Edward Felsenthal, announced Jolie’s new position. The magazine said in a statement that Jolie’s pieces will appear each month and focus on topics including displacement and human rights. The magazine also said that Jolie has carried out more than 60 field missions to countries including Colombia, Peru and Bangladesh.
Lin-Manuel Miranda is coming back to Broadway with “Freestyle Love Supreme.” Conceived by Anthony Veneziale and co-created by “Hamilton’s” Thomas Kail and Miranda, the show takes cues from the audience to deliver unique, improvisatory hip-hop musical experiences. Miranda will make unscheduled appearances during it’s 16-week run from September to January at the Booth Theater.
HBO has begun production on the first “Game of Thrones” prequel series set in the world of Westeros. The network revealed that it had been working on a slew of spinoff content since 2017, having tapped five writers to pen potential projects. However only one project from Jane Goldman has been given a pilot order.
