It takes something REALLY egregious to tick off the ENTIRE internet, but THIS may have done it.
Someone Tweeted an image of a note left for a person who was hired to clean their home, and apparently they were not trusted yet.
It said, “To our cleaner: We hid 100 mini [plastic] ducks around the apartment. We do this to ensure a job well done! Please leave ALL ducks in this jar.” There are also photos of some of the hidden ducks.
It’s unclear if the person who posted it was the cleaner, the person who hired the cleaner, a friend, or just someone looking for social media engagement. But the internet got VERY upset about it.
Not only does this “challenge” feel belittling, it also doesn’t make sense. If you hired someone to spend a certain amount of time cleaning, why would you want to distract them with a duck hunt?
In any event, here are a few amusing responses to the post:
“Imagine taking the time and effort to hide 100 ducks, when you could’ve just been cleaning your own home.”
“I’d fill the jar with the ducks, not clean anything and leave forever, since apparently a jar full of ducks is their definition of a thorough job.”
“I would hide them in different places and leave a new note.”
“You shouldn’t treat any worker this way, but most especially not workers who have access to your toothbrush and your refrigerator.”
“I used to clean houses as a teenager and homeowners would leave TIPS in hiding spots. That’s a better idea.”
“10 ducks is fair but 100 is just insane.” (???)
95% of people seemed to HATE this. But there were a few people who thought this WAS cool. One guy said, “Ummm, have you never hired cleaners? Some are good, but others steal [and] snoop. Trust is earned. The people who can’t handle being tested are snowflakes.”
I would in fact, never clean for them again! 🫶🏻 pic.twitter.com/cFQPoJVcWr
