Stupid Criminal: A Thief Took Someone’s Luggage, and Was Found Wearing the Stolen Clothes

If you flew over the holiday weekend, you can surely relate this guy’s frustration, especially if you had any issues with your baggage.

A man in the L.A. area flew home on Friday, and couldn’t find his luggage at baggage claim.  He had an AirTag inside, so he checked to see where it was, and saw that it was moving AWAY from the airport, toward the rideshare area.

That’s when he realized it had been taken.  He started chasing after it, and eventually saw it stop at a boarded-up abandoned building about a half-mile away.  His partner called the cops, and they responded.

The officers shined flashlights inside the building and saw some movement, and went inside.  They found some people inside, and lined them up.

And one of them was WEARING THE GUY’S CLOTHES.

The guy was allowed to collect his things, which were strewn throughout the building.  He says he was able to get about 90% of his stuff back.

It sounds like the police are still investigating, because there’s no word on any charges yet.  They probably want to find out if there were other people involved, and figure out if this was a one-time thing or an ongoing scheme.

(NBC Los Angeles has an interview with the victim.)
