Five Random Facts for Tuesday

Here are some random facts for you.

1.  The USDA has 1.5 BILLION pounds of cheese stashed in caves in Missouri.  This process started about 75 years ago as part of a plan to stabilize dairy prices in the country.  But now, it’s mainly for use in food assistance programs.

2.  The famous warehouse at the end of “Raiders of the Lost Ark” is a painting.  It just looks real thanks to great camera work.

3.  “B.C.” and “A.D.” were invented in 525 A.D. by a monk who wanted to make sure they were celebrating Easter on the right date.

4.  Australia is the only place in the world with horizontal time zones.  But they only go into effect in the summer, which is our winter.

5.  In Roald Dahl’s first version of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” in 1964, the Oompa Loompas were black pygmy slaves from Africa.  But the book was revised and republished in 1972, and they were described as white dwarf hippies.
