A Dog Showed Up Alive Five Weeks After It Was Lost at Sea

A commercial fisherman was off the coast of southern California back on February 10th, when his DOG fell overboard, and he didn’t realize it.  She’s a one-and-a-half-year-old German shepherd named Luna.  And by the time he figured out she was gone, it was too late.  He didn’t see her in the water, and they were 75 miles off the coast of San Diego.  So he stayed at sea for another two days looking for her.  Then after a week, everyone assumed she was dead.

But she finally DID show up, five WEEKS later.  On Tuesday, several members of the Navy were heading to work at a base on San Clemente Island, two miles from where Luna had gone missing.  They spotted her sitting next to a road, and she ran right up to them.  She must have made the two-mile swim to get there, then survived on her own for five weeks.

But other than being a little malnourished, she’s fine.  And her owner was out of town, so one of his friends picked her up on Wednesday.
