Your Parmesan Cheese Is a Mix of Cheese and Wood

You probably have a container of “100% Grated Parmesan Cheese” in your cupboard.  Well, bad news:  Apparently “100%” doesn’t mean what we think it does.

A lab tested the most popular brands of parmesan, and found ALL of them contain at least a little WOOD PULP.  It’s called “cellulose” in the list of ingredients, and it’s a safe way to stop the cheese from clumping.  But still, there’s wood in your “100%” cheese.

The USDA has gone after companies before for selling parmesan cheese that’s not as pure as it says it is.  But there’s no word on whether this study will make them go after more of these brands.
