Five Random Facts for Friday

Here are some random facts for you.

1.  According to the “New York Times”, the video game industry was one of the first sectors to use A.I. programming in the 1980s, with the four ghosts who chase Pac-Man responding differently based on the player’s real-time movements.

2.  Fall leaf colors are actually present year-round.  The red, orange, and yellow pigments only show up once chlorophyll breaks down in autumn.  Chlorophyll is the chemical that makes leaves green.

In other words, those existing colors are just MASKED by the great amounts of “green” chlorophyll.

4.  The band at Tiger Woods’ wedding to Elin Nordegren in 2004 was Hootie and the Blowfish.

3.  “Two-Buck Chuck” once won a top wine award.  Trader Joe’s “2002 Charles Shaw Shiraz” beat out 2,300 other wines to win a prestigious double gold medal at the 28th Annual International Eastern Wine Competition.

“Two-Buck Chuck” typically isn’t $1.99 anymore.  It’s about a dollar more in California, and at least two dollars more in other states, due to the costs of shipping the wine out.

5.  The letter “J” is the only letter that has never appeared on the Periodic Table.  The letter “Q” was once used as the placeholder name for element 114.  After its discovery, it was named flerovium, with the symbol “FL.”
