Have you ever considered getting a BROWN car, in the hopes that it’ll mask the dirt and appear CLEANER? Well, it won’t hide white stuff.
A new report looked into which vehicles BIRDS POOP ON the most, and apparently, it isn’t totally random. (Although if you park under trees, power lines, or street lights, you ARE kinda asking for it.)
According to the report, birds tend to hit BROWN vehicles the most, followed by red and black. White and silver cars ranked lowest.
Researchers say birds detect ultraviolet light and have enhanced color vision compared to humans. So darker colors might stand out more, and “seem like prime targets.”
Also, “shiny surfaces” can act like mirrors, reflecting a bird’s image. During mating season, territorial birds may think their reflection is a rival, leading to repeated “attacks” on the same vehicle.
That may be why it seems like birds always target you RIGHT after you get it squeaky clean.
As for the brands that get hit the most, Ram is supposedly the #1 most bird pooed on. Jeep is second, followed by Chevrolet, Nissan, Dodge, Kia, Tesla, Audi, Ford, and Subaru.
Overall, 24% of Americans spend over $500 annually on car washes and repairs related to bird droppings, with Tesla and BMW owners shelling out the most.
