1. City birds appear to be more afraid of women than men, and scientists aren’t sure why. Men can get about three feet closer than women can before the birds fly away, regardless of what they’re wearing, their height, or how they approach the creatures.
2. Texas A&M University offers a class on Texas Barbecue that teaches the history of BBQ, cooking methodology, flavorings and seasonings, and different types of BBQ, not to mention a unit on Thanksgiving turkeys.
3. Canadian radio stations are required by law to play Canadian artists on the airwaves at least 35% of the time.
4. The 6th Dalai Lama, in the late 17th century, rejected living as a monk, and instead spent his life womanizing, drinking, and writing love poems and songs.
5. Despite playing around 2,350 live concerts over 30 years, there’s a live recording of every Grateful Dead show except one, March 17th, 1970. It was a show in Buffalo with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra at Kleinhans Music Hall.
