Airplanes pack us in like sardines, and miraculously, most people can still go through an entire flight, barely noticing the people sitting next to them. But not always.
A survey asked, “Who’d be the WORST passenger to sit next to for an entire three-hour flight?” There were FIVE options: The crying baby, the person who is excessively coughing and sneezing, the person with bad gas, the drunk passenger, and the person who constantly invades your space.
(Technically, the option was “the obese passenger,” but most of us aren’t in a position to critique someone else’s body. And honestly, the broader issue is the loss of space, in ALL the ways that happens.)
Here are the results:
32% said the person with bad gas is the worst to sit next to. It’s pretty much impossible to ignore.
25% said the person who’s excessively coughing and sneezing. The others are gone after the flight. A sickness can stick with you for a week or more.
19% said the crying baby. It’s annoying, but you can use headphones.
14% said the drunk passenger. A lot of people said they can be funny, or uneventful, if they’re passed out. But they can also be very loud and obnoxious, and worst of all: They can be unpredictable.
7% said the person who constantly invades your space. Most of the time there’s not much you can do about it, so you just deal, unless that person is intentionally encroaching into your space.
