Most people only think about HOW to wear earbuds ONCE, the first time they wear them. But THIS has the internet rethinking it:
A man claimed people are wearing Apple AirPods wrong, and showed the “correct” way, which looks upside down. You put them in, and then rotate them so the stem points up, toward your temple, and tuck them under the cartilage at the top. (It looks like this.)
Someone asked the A.I. chatbot Grok if this is true, and it said, “Yes, that’s the correct way for optimal fit and sound.”
“Apple’s official guide says: Gently insert into the ear canal, then rotate the stem toward your face until snug. Many people miss the twist step.”
That got people debating it online, and some people say they DO wear their AirPods like this, especially when washing their face or shaving. Others say it works, but would take some getting used to.
Apple hasn’t commented, but in the images on their website, people are NOT wearing their AirPods like this. They have them with the stem pointing down, or toward their mouth.
That’s the key part: Grok seems to be misinterpreting what Apple means by “rotating the stem toward your face.” It makes more sense to have it rotating toward your mouth than toward your temple.
Especially since the microphone is in the stem, along with some sensors and controls. So you probably don’t want that stuff to be buried in your ear, unless you DON’T take any calls.
(The best response is: “Will the audio be upside down?”)
