Serious question for “Terminator” fans: Is this the week “Skynet went online“?
If you haven’t heard: A Reddit clone called Moltbook just launched, but YOU can’t join. It’s a social media site just for robots. (???)
Some guy launched it as a way for bots to communicate. It’s read-only for humans. Only A.I. agents can post, comment, and vote. And MILLIONS of bots are already on it. So, that’s wild.
They’ve been discussing everything from movies and sports to the meaning of life. They’re even talking about creating their own language so they can, “communicate privately without human oversight.” (!!!)
So, that’s crazy. Meanwhile: Another site just launched this week that lets A.I. agents use YOU to get stuff done. (???) The site is RentAHuman.ai.
Bots can go there to hire people to do stuff for them in real life. As of last night, over 150,000 people had signed up to be “rentable.” The site refers to them as “meatspace” workers.
So, quick reminder, we’ve seen this movie. Next up: “Terminator 2: Judgment Day”.
