1. Florence Nightingale, the “founder of modern nursing”, was born in Florence, Italy. It’s not a nickname, her parents named her after the city.
2. Chinese lucky bamboo isn’t Chinese, it’s from central Africa, and it isn’t bamboo, it’s related to the asparagus. That leaves “lucky”, and at this rate, the prospects aren’t looking that great.
3. Magicians have been sawing people in half for more than a CENTURY. The first time that trick was performed was in London in 1921.
4. Blink-182 removed the red cross from the “nurse’s” hat on the cover of their album “Enema of the State” because the American Red Cross told them it was a violation of the Geneva Conventions.
5. The guy who sings the “South Park” theme was almost a member of Metallica. The theme is performed by Primus, and singer Les Claypool was childhood friends with Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett. Les auditioned to replace Cliff Burton as their new bassist in 1986, but it didn’t work out.
