We Know We Shouldn’t Stay Friends With Our Exes, But We Do It Anyway

The best way to get over a breakup is a clean split where you cut off ALL ties with your ex.  The logical part of our brain KNOWS that.  We just can’t seem to follow it.  Here are five results of a new survey on breakups, and just how terrible we are at ending things with a clean break.

1.  More than 60% of people say you should cut off all contact with an ex, because there’s really no benefit to staying friends with them.

2.  But more than HALF of people stay friends with their ex.  Even a lot of those people who said there was no benefit do it, 38% of them are still friends with at least one ex.

3.  40% of people have gotten back together with someone after a breakup, one-third have had sex with an ex, 13% have continued living together after a breakup for financial reasons, and 13% have gone on a vacation with their ex.

4.  32% say their feelings for their ex stopped them from finding a new relationship.

5.  And one in four people go on Facebook to stalk the new people their ex is dating.
