You can’t turn your back for a SECOND with small kids. But luckily this mom was pulling double duty.
A 42-year-old woman from Washington named Darci Dawson was on vacation with her family in Lewistown, Montana two weeks ago, hanging out next to a river.
And right when they were about to walk back to their cabin, she looked over her shoulder, saw something float by, and realized it was an 18-month-old BABY. He’d fallen in while his parents weren’t looking.
So Darci ran downstream to get ahead of him, yelled to her parents to call 911, made sure HER three kids stayed away from the shore, and pulled him out.
He didn’t have a pulse, but luckily she’s a teacher and was a lifeguard in college . . . so she’s taken a LOT of CPR classes over the years.
She managed to get him breathing again, then handed him off to the paramedics. They life-flighted him to a hospital, and his doctors say he’ll be fine . . . it doesn’t look like he suffered any brain damage.
Darci didn’t know if he was okay until the next day, when his great-grandmother showed up at her cabin to give her a hug. And the local police gave her a “Life Saving Award” that’s never been given out to a civilian before.
