Tinashe has released “Melatonin,” the latest single from her forthcoming album, “Popstar,” along with a dance-focused music video. “Melatonin” follows “Too Easy” and “Crash Out” as the third preview of “Popstar,” which is scheduled for release Sept. 25th.
The track takes a distinctly electronic direction, built around pulsing production, rapid-fire rhythms and heavily processed vocals. Zack Sekoff, Nightfeelings and Ricky Reed produced the song. The accompanying video, directed by 91 Rules, puts movement at the center of the visual. Tinashe performs alongside dancers representing styles including ballet, hip-hop and ballroom, while a series of bold outfits and energetic scenes reinforce the song’s club-oriented character. The video also shows Tinashe joining partygoers as they dance to the track.
Tinashe continues a strong run of dance-oriented music. Her collaboration with Disco Lines, “No Broke Boys,” topped Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Songs chart, while “Nasty” became a major hit following its 2024 release. Tinashe is also preparing three fall headlining performances in Chicago, Brooklyn and Los Angeles, where she is expected to bring the new “Popstar” material to the stage.
