There’s a problem with constant bargain-hunting and coupon-clipping: It’s a hard mentality to shake, even when it’s not YOUR money.
A 32-year-old man in Youngstown, Ohio named Jermaine Young went to a Denny’s recently, and asked his server about the law enforcement discount. He flashed a detective badge, and got his bill reduced. Then he left two 20s on the table and walked out.
The employees later found out that the bills he left were COUNTERFEIT, and called the cops. They looked into it, and determined that the money was fake, and that the guy was not employed as a cop, and shouldn’t have a badge.
They tracked Jermaine down, and he’s facing charges of impersonating a police officer, criminal simulation, and theft.
It’s unclear why he asked for the discount when he was paying with counterfeit money, maybe he was getting low on real AND fake money. (???)
