A Woman Spent Her Life Savings on Powerball Tickets, Then Started a GoFundMe Page to Get Help

A woman from Cordova, Tennessee named Cinnamon Nicole blew her life savings on Powerball tickets last week.  She really wanted that $1.6 billion jackpot.  But of course she lost.  So she started a page on GoFundMe.com, so strangers would give her money to rebuild her life.

“With your small donation of at least $1, I’m certain that we will be able to pick ourselves up from the trenches of this loss and spend another fortune trying to hit it big again.”

Now, if that last line makes you feel like this might be a hoax, you’re not alone.  GoFundMe pulled down the page after a few hours for,  “a violation of [our] Terms & Conditions”, which either means they figured out it was a hoax, or it’s just not the kind of request that qualifies for their site.

Believe it or not, Cinnamon had raised $810 before the page was taken down.
